Vicar Jason Hancock was born and raised in Northeast Arkansas. His family attended First Lutheran Church in Blytheville where he was baptized and confirmed. He attended Immaculate Conception School before transferring and graduating from Cooter High School in Cooter, Missouri.
Vicar Jason earned his Associate in Arts from Arkansas Northeastern College in 2003, a Bachelor in Arts in English from Arkansas State University in 2006, and a Master of Arts in Nineteenth Century British Literature from Arkansas State University in 2008. In addition to his liberal arts education, Vicar Jason received a Certificate in Christian Apologetics from Biola University in 2011.
He brings twenty years of experience in higher education, specializing in the teaching of English Composition and Literature. Throughout his career, he has taught students across all undergraduate levels, from introductory writing courses to advanced literature and theory seminars. His work has earned awards for teaching as well. In 2018, the Instructional Technology Council awarded Vicar Jason as Distinguished Educator. He has also earned several certifications for the Association for College and University Educators (ACUE) and Quality Matters (QM).
After years of prayer and searching, along with guidance from several Pastors, Vicar Jason yielded to the Lord’s call and has begun his seminary journey at Concordia Seminary – St. Louis. With his Mentor, Pastor Tom Boeck, Jason is now a student in the Specific Ministry Pastor (SMP) program, working on-site as he continues his seminary education. He serves as Vicar under Pastor Boeck at Peace Conway.
Jason has been married to Jessica since 2008, and they have three boys, Aidan, Luke, and Jack.
